SAGITTARIUS I is the second of two short LPs that Captain Highside will be releasing in the coming months, accompanied by Sagittarius II that was released 11/12/24. These works are a culmination of a prolific 15 months of work, in which he has been releasing tracks and short EPs almost on a monthly basis. SAGITTARIUS II thematically explored Captain Highside’s foray into modern genres and at times has a more experimental sound, while SAGITTARIUS I is more of a homage to his early influences rooted in the classic music he was raised on, so releasing this album second is a way of centering, returning home after the journey of SAGITTARIUS II. The feeling of this album is a mix of soul, old-school R&B, blues, folk, adult contemporary, country and old school ambient electronica. The album is more of a calming and aesthetically accessible presence compared to its predecessor. SAGITTARIUS I is an attempt to update the tried and true music of the 60s, 70s and 80s and give it relevance in the modern day.
